In its 15th edition, the Amsterdam Light Festival presents more than twenty light artworks along the canals of Amsterdam. With an open boat from Stromma, you can see the works from the water, with warm blankets and a drink. The cruise lasts approximately 75 minutes and is accompanied by a live guide.
Light and water
Every year, local, national and international artists create light artworks in and above the Amsterdam canals. You can see almost all the works best from the water, along the oldest and most beautiful parts of the city. The fifteenth edition celebrates fifteen years of light art in Amsterdam.
On board the open boat
The open boat has an open roof, so you can see the light without restriction. You will be given warm blankets to stay warm and one drink per ticket, such as hot chocolate or mulled wine. A skipper will tell you about the artworks during the cruise, in Dutch or English.
Also on foot or by bike
The festival also has a walking route of 4.5 kilometres, which you can walk in its entirety or in parts with the festival app.
Practical
The lights are on every day from 16:30 to 23:00. On New Year’s Eve, the festival closes at 21:00. On the boat, it concerns small groups and you can book shortly in advance.
